Family Day – Spring sunshine and lots of fun and learning …

Decorating plant pots, planting flower and vegetable seeds, constructing a bug hotel, tree word searches, animal dot to dots – all activities which children and parents were able to enjoy and learn together in spring sunshine for 2 hours at Charlton Community Gardens’ family day, on Monday April 14th at the concourse at Charlton Station.

As with last year, Greenwich Community College joined with Charlton Community Gardens to host the event and 15 children, along with their parents, came along. One parent told us that the event was a great opportunity for her daughter since they don’t have a garden at home. The event was planned to coincide with Royal Horticultural Society’s Britain in Bloom week and the school holidays, with RHS distributing sunflower seeds to organisations who wished to use them as part of an event in their local community.
