Warm Weather Gardening: Sherington School & Station

With the fantastic warm weather continuing we would love to see many of Charlton’s keen gardeners at two gardening sessions this week.

Sherington School Nature Area. There is couch grass to remove in readiness for positioning the raised beds, hopefully, by Half Term.  With this goal in mind,  we have a clearing session on Tuesday, 30th September at 9:30 am.  Please come to the Emergency Access gate on Sherington Road.

Charlton Station – The next Gardening Party at the station is on Sunday, 5th October at 2pm.  We will be creating a Spring display of daffodils in the Winter area, as well as planting vegetables and perennials.

We are looking forward to seeing many friends at the sites this week.

Autumn Gardening Parties.

With the warm September sun set to continue this week it is the perfect time  to enjoy some community gardening at Charlton station.

Please join us this Wednesday, 17th September  from 6pm. We will be harvesting  tomatoes, runner beans, salads and herbs and sowing and planting some winter salad crops.

Autumn gardening will then take place on the first Sundays of the month in October and November :

  • Sunday, 05/10/2014 – 2 to 4pm – Come along and help create a great Spring display of daffodils in the Winter area, as well as planting vegetables and perennials.
  • Sunday, 02/11/2014 – 2 to 4pm.   Planting of the winter vegetables will continue – it’s the ideal month to sow broad bean Aquadulce and plant garlic and onion sets.

Please email: charltoncommunitygardens@gmail.com for more information and to let us know you are coming along to any of these events.

We look forward to seeing many existing and new volunteers.
