Charlton Manor School visit us at the station

A broad bean pod to the left….and a couple of our visitors, snapped by their teacher.

On Friday 25th May,  some year 5 and 6 pupils from Charlton Manor School, together with staff members, came to see us to find out what we do and how we do it.  Judy explained how we started, what our volunteers do and how we pay for everything.  Jane designed and printed a sheet for the children to identify plants and flowers growing in the garden at the moment.  Our herbs were particularly good. Our broad beans too were ready.  Everyone tried raw young broad beans.  Edible flowers were a novelty that the children learned about.  All this while the sun shone and different types of bees and wasps buzzed around in the wild flower garden
