If you haven’t seen the garden for a couple of weeks there’s been some big changes.  Last week Men in Sheds installed 2 more raised beds for us and they’re waiting to be planted up.

New raised beds

And on Monday, we planted our wildlife-friendly garden, full of plants and shrubs to attract bees, butterflies and birds.

Waiting for plantingplanting planting finished

It may not look much at the moment but next year it will be full of life and colour.

If you want to see what we’ve planted and want to know more about wildlife-friendly gardening, then come down to the station next Sunday 6th October from 2-4 pm for the next ‘gardening party’.  There’ll be some bulb-planting to do, fruit bushes to put in, and winter/spring veg to plant.

Look forward to seeing you there.

Phase II of the station garden is about to happen …

Next week Men in Sheds will be delivering two raised beds  for Phase 2 of the garden and there will be two open gardening sessions to fill these.

  • Filling the raised beds with soil – Friday 27th September at 10:30 am – 12:30pm
  • Planting the raised beds – Sunday, 6th October at 2pm-4pm

Also, keep your eyes on the the willdlife friendly garden over the next month as planting starts to take shape.

Please let us know if you have any insect friendly plants that you would like to donate charltoncommunitygardens@gmail.com.    We hope to plant some donated plants at the first of our regular monthly gardening parties on Sunday, 6th October.

See you soon.

Thanks to all who came to yesterday’s clearing session.

We are thrilled by both the good turnout and by what we have achieved together.  The ground  has been cleared of weeds for Phase 2 of the garden.  The silver birch trees, buddleja and grapevine are looking great now that  more weeds (especially the pesky bindweed!)  have been cleared away from them.

The two new raised beds are due to be  installed by the end of this month. We will be in touch shortly with future dates for planting and group sessions.
