Hard at work!
We had a good turnout for our latest clearing session at the station yesterday. We cleared most of the area near the platform ready for the next raised beds to be installed. Many thanks to those that turned out and to neighbours who loaned their wheelie bins for the rubbish.
There’s another clearing session next Sunday 8th September at 10.00 am to finish the work, so please come along.
Please note – we’ve had to postpone the delivery of the raised beds, so the dates planned for filling them and planting them up have also had to be changed. We’ll advise the new dates as soon as we can.
I hope everyone has been enjoying the summer and are now feeling nice and relaxed. We have our next clearing session organised for this Sunday, 1st September, from 2-4 pm at Charlton Station. We plan to start clearing the area near the platform ready for putting in 2 more raised beds. The work will mainly involve getting out the stumps of most of the existing shrubs, so will be quite heavy work. However, there will be some weeding and litter picking as well, so there’s something for everyone to get involved in. Please wear suitable boots/shoes and bring gloves and tools if you have them, although we do have some available if you don’t.
New people are always welcome and we look forward to seeing you there.

CCG enjoyed a great day at Sherington School Fete by holding a plant sale. This was the first outing for our new banner. Annie’s daughters were delighted to see the artwork that they designed with their mum flying proud on the banner.
There was a great atmosphere with so many people enthusiastic about plants and gardening. As well as raising some ever useful funds for CCG, we made new contacts and spread the word about what we’ve achieved at Charlton Station and our longer term aim of some land for growing edibles on the Highcombe site.
